That was the headline of a post by X user wesleysimplic, reportedly from Brazil. It named the date, described the sequence, and told readers to stock up on food, water, cash and gold.
Within days it had spread across social networks in several languages.
EVENT OF THE DAY
On November 17 the US runs a scheduled nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System (FEMA + FCC). Around 19:20 UTC, radio and TV broadcasts will be interrupted for about a minute. This time the alert goes out on radio and TV only, not to phones. If a real emergency hits, the test moves to December 3.
